  • TOMMY ROBINSON  

Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, born November 27, 1982) is a prominent British far-right activist, known primarily for his anti-Islam and anti-immigration campaigning.

He co-founded and led the English Defence League (EDL) from 2009 to 2013, a group described as anti-Muslim and far-right, which organized street demonstrations often characterized by aggressive rallies. He left the EDL in 2013, citing it had become too extreme, though he continued similar activism afterward.

Robinson has faced multiple legal issues over the years, including convictions for assault, fraud (using a false passport to enter the US in 2013 after being denied entry due to prior offenses), contempt of court, and other charges. He has served prison time on several occasions, including for contempt related to breaching reporting restrictions by livestreaming outside a trial.

He positions himself as an independent journalist and activist highlighting issues like immigration, grooming gangs (particularly those involving men of Pakistani heritage), free speech restrictions, and what he describes as threats from Islamism and multiculturalism in the UK. Supporters view him as a whistleblower speaking for working-class concerns ignored by mainstream institutions; critics, including much of the British media and anti-extremism organizations, label him a far-right figure who promotes Islamophobia, stokes division, and has inspired anti-immigrant protests and riots.

As of early 2026, he remains active online (e.g., on X/Twitter via @ T RobinsonNewEra and You Tube), giving interviews, and organizing or speaking at rallies. He has gained international attention, including support from figures like Elon Musk in prior years, and in February 2026 visited the US State Department (hosted by an official there), which drew criticism from UK politicians and media who emphasized he does not represent the British government or mainstream views.

He is one of the UK's most polarizing and well-known far-right figures, with a large online following but widespread condemnation from authorities, media, and antiracism groups.
